What to Expect from Now We Are Breaking Up

Song Hye Kyo and Jang Ki Yong’s new drama is around the corner and our team is so excited to be able to share it with everyone this coming November. Here’s a quick sneak peek of what to expect!

What is it about?

Now, We Are Breaking Up is about Ha Young Eun (Song Hye Kyo), a design team leader in one of Korea’s leading fashion companies, The One. Beautiful and talented, but a cold realist when it comes to love. We also have Yoon Jae Gook (Jang Ki Yong), a freelance photographer hired by The One, who has a more free-spirited approach on love. A noona office romance for a new generation.

The Fashion

The show as an office romance already gives us an idea of the challenges and opportunities we have to see our couple go through before they fall in love. But that also is elevated by the fact that it would be set in a fashion company. We’re expecting amazing looks, not only from Song Hye Kyo but the rest of the cast.

The fashion concept actually reminds us of other Kdramas set in editorial offices like She Was Pretty! The show gave us an inside look at what it’s like working for and being a part of a fashion magazine. However, while the show was more on the quirky and comedic side, we’re expecting Now, We Are Breaking Up to have a more serious and mature tone. She Was Pretty was also able to deliver on some amazing looks, especially for Hwang Jung Eum’s Hye Jin who practically had a glow-up!

Of course, because we have a strong female character at the helm, we’re expecting some girl power! We can sort of compare this to Song Hye Kyo’s previous character, Cha Soo Hyun (Encounter), in a way. She’s coming from a position of power but had no love in her life until Jin Hyuk came along.

We can also compare this to the three amazing women of Search WWW who just radiate girl boss energy! They’re strong women who are not afraid to get what they want and create ways to achieve whatever challenge that comes their way. Jang Ki Yong also stars in the show so we can’t help but draw the comparisons!

Contemporary Romance

Now, We Are Breaking Up is an exploration of modern romance in the context of fashion and trends. In this fast-paced world, is there space for love to grow and flourish?
